There are many things to be done when you are planning your wedding and most of them require rese
rving and ordering ahead to be sure you have what you need for your special day. But your hairstyle is not something you can "do" ahead of time. It must be done on the day of your wedding. Your bridesmaids and flower girl will need some beauty salon pampering, too. Thankfully, you can decide on what you want and make appointments in the weeks before your wedding. When you are planning your wedding, do not forget about wedding hairstyles.

Customizing Wedding Hairstyles
1. Consider your type of wedding. Formal weddings require different hairstyles than informal weddings and those that are themed will require wedding hairstyles that go along with the theme. Whether you want an updo, a half updo or leave your hair down truly depends on the type of wedding.

2. Consider the length and type of everyone's hair. Those with straight, fine hair have different options than those with waves or curls. If you have shorter hair, you must decide whether to work with what you have or get hair extensions. Hair extensions take time and should be done in the days before your wedding, whether they are for you or your bridesmaids. Long hair that is wavy or curly looks beautiful when swept in full updos or half updos. A few ringlets or curls framing the face are very romantic.

3. Consider personality. There is no reason hairstyles should not reflect the personality of the wearer, even at a wedding. There are so many choices in hairdos that even your pickiest bridesmaid can find something she likes regardless of the theme you have decided upon.

Wedding Hairstyles: Be Prepared

As the bride, you are the most important person in your bridal party. Enjoy the short-term glory! Get opinions from your friends, family and hair stylist before you go in to the salon on your wedding day. Spend a couple hours looking through hairstyle books. Invite your bridesmaids along and have fun picking out wedding hairstyles together! Above all, know what you are going to have done before your appointments.

Updos for hair that is medium to long in length include buns, braids and twists. All of these have their variations. Classic looks are smoothed back and basic. More romantic looks sweep the hair up and let little curls tumble out. You do not have to put all of your into an updo. You may choose a "half updo", instead. Looks for hair that is left to hang down include curls, waves, or straightening. Add some flowers for a beautiful effect. Dress up short hair with flowers and other accessories or slick it back for a sophisticated look.

If you or your bridesmaids are considering hair color or a permanent for the first time, have it done months before the wedding. You will know if the look suits you well ahead of time and you will have time to make changes if necessary.

Wedding hairstyles truly depend on you and your bridesmaids. There are no strict rules other than careful timing and that you and your bridal party love what you see.

I like the picture and yes the up look is back from the 40's. Yet the right hairdo makes the day for all.
